Not really. Our government spends about a hundred times more for oil companies than it does for alternative energy.
I'm not talking about percentages. I'm talking about the FACT that these hundreds upon hudreds of wind generators have FEDERAL FUNDING behind them. So there's no reason to try to sidetrack it with inane comparisons.

It SHOULD be more. But at least it's a start.
It's not inane, it's true, and it's hypocritical. How can you claim that the government is for phasing out polluting measures in favor of alternative fuels, when we're still giving money to big oil? Not only that, but big oil has HUGE profit margins, whereas alternative fuel does not. It's simple economics. In order for alternative fuels and energy sources to catch on, they have to be more desireable than the old ones. Being more environmentally friendly isn't the biggest concern of the average American. I think the high rate of SUV sales indicates that. It's dropped off recently, but not because Americans care about the environment. It's because gas prices are too high. I think that's actually a good thing. It's doing what the government isn't.

If gas was 12 dollars a gallon, and our government wasn't giving oil companies so much money, we'd have fully alternative, more environmentally friendly cars in less than a year.
