A recruiter's job is a catch 21. They need to recruit personnel to fill the needs of the service. Most are E-6s or E-7s who are busting their hump for promotion to the next rank, it just so happens that recruiting duty is a great step for that promotion.

Since they are no longer operating in their primary military occupation specialy (MOS) how is their performance judged?? They are evaluated on the number of persons they recruit. That's how their performance is judged. Its a sheer game of numbers, and this puts the pressure on the recruiters, there are quotas they must fill, if they don't how do you think their evaluations look?

Everytime you turn around, you hear how this war is going badly, how its unjust, unnecessary, blah, blah, blah....Well the news carries this, and what do you think it does to those who might of been interested in joining, it quickly turns them against the idea.

Now, we see colleges wanting to prohibt recruiters from coming on campus. I say that if colleges don't want to let the recruiters on campus, fine, don't go there, nobody should be forced to allow someone where they are not wanted. Just follow the law, is all I say. Refuse the military recruiters and accept the government stopping all federal funding to the college.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles
