I worked for Senator Schumer for two years, before moving on to work for Congressman Brian Higgins, both of whom are Democrats. I'm active in my local gay rights movement, and I founded the Gay-Straight Alliance at my high school. I'm a pacifist vegitarian. I'm opposed to the War in Iraq, the Bush Administration, and human rights violations. I'm a pantheist/agnostic. I believe in evolution, change, growth, and the global community. I believe in universal human rights, not just rights for Americans. I believe in environmentalism. I believe in science. I support gay marriage, legalized drugs, and privacy. I'm pro-choice. I believe in a secular public domain. If that makes a Republican, then the Evangelical members of the party must have been sucked into space when we weren't looking.
I'm also opposed to stupidity, no matter what side it's coming from, and you exude it by the boatloads. I know personal attacks aren't really welcome on message boards, and I hope this doesn't get me banned, but I don't take kindly to being called a Republican.
Admittedly, I do have some conservative views. I think deficits aren't beneficial. I think the government does a lot of things it doesn't need to be doing. I would like to have lower taxes. I think GM foods are the wave of the future. I think affirmative action, as it stands now, is poorly designed. I think every responsible citizen should be able to own a gun. These things hardly make me a Republican.
Unless, of course, the entire criteria is believing that Bush is just as bad as Hitler. If that is the case, then there are a lot of Republicans in the Democratic Party... Hell, apparently I even know some Republican socialists. I don't really know how that works.
