The only ones currently safe are the Antarctic penguins, because there are no humans there.
It's sad that we are killing off this planets creatures with our greed. This isn't necessity. Oil isn't necessary. We are capable of so much more than this. Our Task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures, the whole of nature, and its beauty.
