2) This has a negative effect on the economy. Not saying it is enough to kill the economy, but it's kind of like a man carrying around excessive poundage which negatively impacts his health. He could be "healthy" otherwise, but the pounds are making him worse than he could be.
And that isn't the same thing as "screwing up the economy"...
And if you want to argue that a big deficit and a big debt don't have a negative impact on the economy, just say so...
