I find it disheartening that so much attention is being focused upon this President and his actions. While as a Conservative I dislike the idea of anyone disobeying the laws, I also believe that there are times when even the President has the right to question the authority of laws passed by Congress that interfere with a President's explicit Constitutional powers.
While I applaud the ABA for their investigation, my only question is when will they turn there eyes towards Congress??? For years now, Congress has passed laws that apply to the citizens of this country, yet they themselves have remained exempt from them. If they are going to be our law makers, should not the laws they pass apply not only to us the people, but to them as well???? Social Security, EEOO, affirmative action, and a wide array of laws or policies established by Congressionally mandated bureaus have all be ignored or do not apply to Congress. Why no outrage over this simple fact???
dmk Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles -Russell Kirk- |
