and yeah Gitmo should be closed cuz the us aint making ANY friends because of it. It makes the mullahs stronger because the average muslim assumes the US is gonna put him in Gitmo if it gets the chance.

This is just the practical reason.. the real reason would be the geneva convention, but i doubt there are any takers there

Before anybody starts, Saudi Arabia consistently breaks the Geneva convention in NUMEROUS ways. Since the US does nothing about them, it seems pretty clear that no heed is given to human rights as long as you keep giving oil.

Back to the point at hand... Gitmo is illegal by all norms of international law.. If the US invokes the concept of international law only when it serves their interest, people are just gonna stop taking the US seriously... and to be honest slowly they are.. we can't stop the US from invading iraq.. but we can have a good giggle over the mess they land themselves in and deplete their own resources.
