But hey, it's just "freedom of expression", and certainly should be allowed. In addition, if I burn a cross in your front yard it's obviously YOUR fault! | Oh really, I'm acting like an ass? Why is that, because I voiced my opinion? Fuck you. Quote: |
That is not a piece of cloth. Those who died defending this country did not die for a piece of cloth. There are going to be some bloody noses if people think burning the American flag in this country is okay. Too many veterans will make sure of that.
| Exactly, our brave veterans did not die for a piece of cloth: they died for what it stands for: freedom, democracy, and justice. It is therefore more of a desecration upon their sacrafices if you ban something that is purely a form of symbolic protest and political expression. If watching someone burn an American flag here in the US somehow hurts your morale or angers you; then you are weak. Just know that they are dumbasses for doing so and are already making themselves out to be dumbasses publically. It is not only very weak if you must feel compelled to impose your beliefs and morals onto other people through the law of this country: but it is antidemocratic and more un-american than the act of burning the flag itself.
