You're right, Judaism is a religion and a culture, not a nation. However, Jews have lived in Palestine for thousands of years, and faced bloody pogroms instigated by the Palestinians which the British reported on with a tinge of disgust. The Palestinians haven't been pogromed last time I checked.

That is why Jews cannot live in Palestine.

The Jews never left, they just became a tiny minority for a while.
