The progressive taxes of the 90s, mixed with the fiscal responsibility of the congress led to spending surpluses thus resulting in more our national debt trust fund. The congress of today has not only increased spending by over 60% (with little to show for it besides war I might add) and cut taxes for the ultra-rich which made up a huge block of our federal income. This is what we get for electing people based on abortion and gay marriage issues...you get people who are fiscally incompetent.
