Since government cannot by itself make money, it relies upon the money of the people. THe budget surplus of the 90's was a result of the increase of economic output of the people. Higher wages, higher productivity and investment in the stock market resulted in the government taking in more money than it needed. In other words, the government was overcharging its people. The government should never, NEVER, have a surplus, nor for that matter a debt.
Debt spending is the result of the acceptance and adherence of our government to the failed Keynsian model. The problem with the current Congress is that despite the tax cuts, they have not followed through with spending cuts. The answer far too often for government is to throw money at the problem rather than try to solve the problem through other resources.
It amazes me that I am far from rich, yet I enjoy the benefits of the tax cuts enacted by this administration. My share might be meager, but I really value the fact that I can enjoy more of the money I earn through hard work.
Everytime time a discussion about tax cuts come up we have to hear the same mantra from the left.....Tax cuts for the rich. Well, we have a progressive tax system, when tax cuts are enacted are they not progressive also??? Perhaps the left doesn't understand this yet, or maybe they are just too damn dumb to ever understand it.
dmk Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles -Russell Kirk- |
