Jihad is a word which originates from a concept of Islam (one which is not necissarily violent, I might add. It depends on your interpretation). It may have other meanings, but the connotations of the source are still relevant, much like, say, the word "advent" for example, which has a similar context, if not meaning, in regard to Roman Catholicism.
