If you or I did the things that some of these politicians do, we would be in handcuffs and punished by going to jail or paying a hefty fine. But all politicians get is a slap on the wrist by being fired. I'm tired of that crap. What good is a system of justice if an elite group decide to be above it?
According to the War Crimes Act of 1996, Bush and other US officials should be eligible for the death penalty for their crimes. Especially after the Supreme Court said that the Geneva Conventions apply to the detainees. No wonder they tried (and succeeded unfortunately) to pardon themselves of war crimes through legislation last week. Aside from that, legislation was passed broadening the possible definition of terrorist, while including that even if they're American citizens, their rights to habeas corpus and other constitutional rights of justice would be suspended. To me, the Foley scandal is helping the Republicans. Becuase it certainly is a nice little cover for Bush's Enabling Act to be passed. | Impeach and send to Guantanamo, no death penalty, let them mingle with the other prisoners at Guantanamo!
