I agree that using Hamdi as an example was not appropriate.
You guys do realize that Bush has admitted that his wire tapping program and holding prisoners indefinitely was the wrong move? The Supreme Court has ruled on both issues and Bush has said He wil go with what ever the supreme court says. This is very close to his own admission of guilt. Like it or not the President probably did break the law.
I know you conservative backers don't hold any stock in the polls taken by various bodies, but I saw on TV last night that 53% of Americans believe Bush lied to the American people, the Senate and Congress about Iraq and the war on terror. Only 36% think he didn't. This poll was taken by Reuters and they are definitely a conservative controlled news agent. All of the polls taken have pointed to these basic numbers. We are now coming down to election time and if they are done fairly I think you will see that most Americans don't agree with the stance that the President can do what he wants because we are at war. Even the 'majority', who you guys claim are Republician backers(given as evidence here numerous times in posts pointing out the fact that they won the last elections) are now turning on their own party, which is exactly what they should do. The Republicans maybe screwed, plain and simple. Quote: |

Having mentioned this, I now must make a stance for what I feel is in this country's best interests. Current control of our government is in this administrations hands. Our system of checks and balances has been thrown out of wack by this control. The addition of Alito may swing control even further out of wack.
In order to take back some control from this administration, it is imperative that the Democratic Party gets control of the Senate. I know there are plenty of hard line republicians out there that know Bush's decisions are wrong.
Please do the right thing and give us our checks and balances back by VOTING, this year, for ALL Democrats in the senate. Save this country from total control by this administration and vote whats in your heart as the right thing, and to hell with political affiliations!! | http://www.defendingthetruth.com/leg...-balances.html Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour There are many men of principle in both parties in America, but there is no party of principle. ~Alexis de Tocqueville |
