I think both of you have your points.

I would support civil unions for gay couples, but not gay marriages.

You might ask in what way would I be effected if gays were allowed to marry?? Well I don't know..but I just think marriage should be kept between a man and a woman. Marriage would probably not even exist if it wasn't for religion. For hundreds of thousands of years it has been between a man and a woman on the basis of religion. Since it is tied in religion, there are many other things that need to be re-written if marriage was allowed for gays.

Civil unions offer the same benefits as a married couple..i think.
