So what is the option???
We send people to prison who commit crimes. Nowadays people complain and evidence supports the fact that many people learn to be better criminals in prison.
If you are sentence to prison as a thief, many times you get hardened during your time because you are in with murderers. You are taught to kill, and to fight and to stay alive. When you come out, this is what you know.
Perhaps if we used the death penalty more often against these hardened criminals they would not have the ability to influence many of the first time offenders. Then we would have a opportunity for them to rehabilitate rather than become more violent when released.
Just a thought
dmk Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles -Russell Kirk- |
