In regards to "normal" use of the death penalty I feel it is brutal because
a) it doesn't prevent crime
b) innocent people have been shown to be executed or on death row
c) it teaches that revenge is moral to our society in a sense

In cases like Saddam Hussein it is far too nice because it just totally lets them off the hook. But that is sort of true of normal execution as well. I just don't see the punishment in being allowed to die when you face a life behind bars.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.
