I recently was put on Marinol and will have a medical marijuana card from the health dept. within about 2 month. My doctor has already sent the paper work in and now I am waiting. I have two pinched nerves, on in my neck and one in my lower back. I have severe muscle spasms that wake me every night. I can't even walk for hours after these spasms. I am out of work, from what I am told, for the rest of my life. I tried all the perscriptions you could imagine, Muscle relaxers, pain killers, and I even had cortizone injections shot directly into my spine(still have one more of those beauties to go). The Marinol works to make the spasms less severe, but I still have them nightly. Usually I m running on 4 to 5 hours of sleep each day. If I smoke pot before bed(which I can't afford to do often) I have no spasms that night! I will soon be able to grow twelve plants at a time(the limit set by my state's laws). This will make my life much less painful and who knows, maybe I'll be able to get back to work some day.
| I wish you luck there. . . you sound like an intelligent person who has suffered a lot. . . I can sort of relate to some of the things you are talking about, since I have schizophrenia and am also on medication. I, too, have trouble sleeping. . . Yes, I guess there are exceptions to the "only stupid people smoke pot" line. When there is a medical reason, and it is prescribed by a doctor, that is different. I've actually had doctors (because of my schizophrenia) offer to prescribe me stuff like pot and speed before (among other things), but I've refused. I just don't believe in that. However, I don't "look down upon" people who take certain "illegal" drugs for medical purposes. I can't even begin to imagine some of the things these people go through. . . You have no idea how many people actual smoke pot. Some are lawyers, doctors, professors and even some are police. I am 46 years old and personally know of 7 different professionals that are undecover pot smokers. Your claim that only stupid people smoke pot is not based on your personal experiences and are wrong. One of the smartest persons I have ever known smokes pot and he has a Phd.
| I agree with you that I have no idea how many people actually smoke pot. . . however, my friend, the world is FULL of educated derelicts. Just because someone happens to have a Phd. and also smokes pot doesn't really tell me anything. . . Do some of these people you mentioned also smoke pot for medical reasons, or are they just looking for "the kicks?"
