In order to "get things started off on the right foot" I decided that it'd be a great idea to carry a starter pistol into class with me, in my jacket pocket. About 1 minute into my speech, I pulled out the pistol and shot a kid in class.

Absolutely scared the CRAP out of everybody, including the professor - who ended up giving me an "A."

In the end, I walked out of class with an "A" and began quite a line of college lore. "Hey, did you hear about that guy who shot a kid in speech class? It was awesome!"

Now... what do you suppose will happen if you try to do that when YOU'RE a college freshman? I'd guess you'd be in jail wouldn't you?
That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard. If you shot him, you'd be in jail. If you shot at him that would be different.

Case and point. A lot less is tolerated today because people take things too literally. That's good in some ways, bad in most others.
