Church and state are currently LESS corrupted by each other, in America, then ever before. Right or wrong, there's more of a separation now than before.

As for populism... It won't work in America unless and until people quit being so stupid, and start thinking about more then where they'll buy their beer, the latest computer & video games, and when they might get laid.

IF people smarten up, populism will happen without it being labeled as such. If people continue to be dumbed down, no idealogical movement, such as populism, will work anyway.
