How would you feel about at least putting them to hard labor? With the emphasis on HARD...
First, we would be paying less to keep them aliv (see previously cited articles). Second, protecting innocent people would be worth some extra cost anyways. Finally about hard labor... depending on exactly what was meant, I would be fine with that. But I suspect that if the convicts were in the general population rather than death row they would be getting plenty of hard labor from the other inmates, if you know what I mean...
