Beautiful terrain, but HORRIBLE conditions - and it's NOT just the governments. People are different there, and have been for multiplied generations. Nice people, most of them, but absolutely incapable of doing what would be necessary to turn any of these island countries around economically. | Well they're islands. They're not exactly powerhouses waiting to tap into unlimited resources. I'm sure their main sources of revenue would probably be tourism. Obviously if we embargo and ban visitation, this tourist industry isn't going to flourish.
But as for the South American countries, they are turning around. More specifically I'm talking about Brazil. As Brazil rises, I think the economies of the surrounding nations would benefit.
