My wife & I used them with flawless results for nearly 20 years - so I'd say "Yes", the other kinds of contraception are VERY effective, if used properly.

There's actually only a fairly small "window" of time, during which a girl/woman can get pregnant each month. Even with NO birth control of any kind, sex will vary likely NOT result in pregnancy.
