I think it's been on the news enough for people to realize that both Bush and Clinton purged the District Attorneys when they took office.
Republican and Democrat alike.
That isn't the complaint.
The complaint is over firing people AFTER that, for no greater problem than the attorney's politics aren't lining up well enough with the administrations. That the attorney in question may have enough independent morality and less of a "Go Bush" mentality that would enable him to question the legality of certain goings on...
And of course, if there is truly no problem with all this, WHY DID THEY LIE when the administration fired these guys claiming it was for "performance" reasons? Why not just admit these guys were being fired for politics if there was nothing wrong with it???
And on another level, I find it amusing that George Bush admits that mistakes were made, while some in his party refuse to... "(Gay marriage) is a debate about whether you think gay people are part of the human condition or just a random fetish."
