OK, I'll tell you a bit more about me. The pic in my avatar is actually me, it was taken in Gibraltar in 1969. Here's the original pic: http://www.southville.net/apeboybig.jpg

And I used to be on a newsgroup called uk.religion.pagan which was a friendly newsgroup where people who were vaguely pagan-friendly gathered. We had several Christians of various hues on there, as well as pagans, and a few people from outside the UK. There were a few real-life meets too which were great, but then after a while the board got taken over by a couple of posters who would attack anyone who wasn't from the UK, or anyone who wasn't a "proper" pagan (whatever that means). I've always felt that it's a bit strange that we're expected to tick a single box to say what our religion is - we don't have a box saying what ethical system we subscribe to, for instance, but we all know what we believe and what we don't - so I described myself as a "spiritual slut", happy to incorporate elements of spirituality that seem to connect. After all, major religions have been doing this since at least the time of Socrates!

As a result of this, I was accused of being a "fluffmeister" on the newsgroup. I think it was meant as an insult, but I like the term and it fits so well
I bet then we've met before. Formally WiccaUK, then went to PaganUK? Now it's UKPagan. But they also were linked to your newsgroup and I believe they still are....

As to the title of one's beliefs? Yes it's nice to have a title that kind of describes one's religious philosophies, but they are sometimes also limiting as labeling one's specific beliefs is a complex thing...

The closest I can use to describe my beliefs is 'Pagan Spiritualist'. I'm a Pagan that follows a heavily influenced Mesopotamian/Pre-Judaic philosophy. Eeven that isn't as indepth as what my beliefs/practices are as it only scratches the surface of those complex teachings/beliefs.
