Stem cell research is ongoing. Even embryonic stem cell research is ongoing. What these people WANT is for the government to fund the research. They want government to fund research that calls for embryos.

Without thinking about the unintended consequences such as a market in embryos --- trade for profit of embryos, imagine how many desperate people will be deliberately impregnating themselves to harvest embryos.... imagine people in third world countries who are already selling body parts doing this to themselves. Even if you aren't Christian, if you don't value life enough to think this would be a bad thing for humanity, then understand that it's GREED driving the companies that invested in doing this research and simply EXPECT the government taxpayer to foot the bill so they can continue.

Stem cell research is already ongoing. That's fine. Designating taxpayer dollars to use exclusively embryonic stem cells and creating such horrendous cultural problems is a big mistake.
That's an ugly thought. I suppose it all hinges on when you consider life to have begun.

I understand stem cells are a lot more rare in adults. I'm not very clued up on it, so forgive me if my info is out of date.

If it's already underground, I'm sure it will continue regardless of law, like offshore abortion and organ 'farming'. Wouldn't the tax payer be funding legal and monitored research?
It's not the winning that counts... it's the taking APART. xxx
