Of course not! If it were, we would never use the word fetus!

But you are wasting your breath here.

Pro-life zealots have no interest in science or logic when it comes to "the sanctity of life."

We would use it the same way we use different words to describe different stages in a person's life:

fetus, baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult, senior, geriatric, etc

But you are wasting your breath here.

Pro-abortion zealots have no interest in the sanctity of life when it comes to science or logic!

That's hardly an argument, it's merely an opinion.

How can you deny that a fetus is a baby in it's early stages?

Other than to placate one's conscience.

Semantics... What a lovely game.

[Sarcasm]

Gary, if gays can't be married a fetus cannot be a child.

To be a child the fetus would have gone through development and been birthed. Though the words are interchangeable, I'm not going to allow you to disgrace a baby by calling a fetus a baby

[/Sarcasm]

But I hate the semantics game, lets get some facts out there...

Fact 1 - If left to his own devices, a fetus will develop into a baby and then into a child.
Fact 2 - terminating a life, once the process has started, is technically a murder.
Fact 3 - Women have been given God like powers with the right to abort.

Using abortion as an after thought to fix a problem is irresponsible and shouldn't be allowed in my opinion. If the woman wanted to prevent the pregnancy, she should have insisted upon the use of contraception.

Having said that, I still believe that abortion should be safe legal and RARE. Getting an abortion should be like amending the US Constitution. It should be a very difficult process. We are talking about the overwhelming probability of life here.

Then we are in 100% agreement!

So much for all the sceptics on here who say miracles never happen!

So you want to stop playing with semantics and settle for common language, or does that only apply to this thread?

Whose common language, mine or yours?

Not mine, not yours, in general. Words have general meanings that are often not as precise as their specific meanings.

One of the most important rules of linguistics is that people be understood.

Just like what we just did. A fetus is not a baby, but they are similar and thus in common language often interchanged.

Are we going to allow for the interchange, or are you going to argue semantics when it fits you?

The problem is that not everyone understands words to have the same meaning. As with the word "fetus', to name one of thousands of examples.

If everyone agreed there would be nothing to debate.

Then arguing semantics only when it fits you it is... I figured.
