My hubby thought that gestation and childbirth was a 'beautiful thing' until my first pregnancy. Then he was forced to take of the freaking rose colored glasses and accept reality.

I read an article once by a female urologist who said that the closest a man can come to experiencing child birth, was to pass a kidney stone the size of a golf ball. I wonder how many of them would find their wife standing by the bed saying 'breath honey, you can do it' a comfort?

Why do you women so undervalue the gift of child bearing?

Nobody doubts that it's hard work and painful, but most worthwhile endeavours are like that.

How sad you consider one of God's greatest gift to be "claptrap". Your cynicism is depressing.

We don't consider it to be 'claptrap' gary. We just don't view it through the rose colored glasses you do.

When something effects you personally, you lose the ability to just 'imagine' what it might be like. You have to deal with the REALITY of what it is like. You can't play 'let's pretend'.

I have two children that I love to distraction. I had a very restricted pregnancy and almost lost the first at birth, and almost lost both of us with the second. If I had it to do all over again, would I? HELL YES! But that doesn't mean that I have to pretend that it was all balloons and cotton candy.

You may find our 'cynicism', which BTW, is actually a realistic view, depressing, but I must tell you....WE find your innocence and naiveness laughable. And consider, we have experience in our corner. You don't.

It's like us telling you that getting kicked in the balls is no big deal.

As I already said, I'm not pretending its all " balloons and cotton candy".

But most worthwhile endeavours in life require pain and sacrifice, childbearing included. The result of that pain and sacrifice is a new life which even a heartless pro abortionist like you admit you "love to distraction"!

Understanding the gift of childbearing isn't a question of naivety, it's a question of perspective, which you seem to sadly lack.

We know certain kinds of women love to leverage their gifts into an extended guilt trip, or a power play, but even they cannot detract from the wonder of child bearing and childbirth.
