To outlaw abortion would be the law defining morality.

No, it doesn't. The law defines the law.

When I was going to a baptist school, they considered immoral to listen to rock and roll music.

The Catholic Church considers it immoral to practice birth control.

Some people consider it immoral to eat meat.

Most people would consider committing adultery immoral.

The 10 commandments say it's immoral to not honor the Sabbath day or your mother and father.

Morality is strictly personal. While some things that most people would consider immoral are illegal (murder, rape, etc) others are not.
