Exactly. Doing nothing is no crime. Performing an action which results in death is a crime. Even if the death occurs minutes later.

Performing an action with results in death, is not always a crime.

You can refuse to offer aid to walk away from an injured person, and if they die, even IF you could have saved them, you have committed no crime.

If your lifeboat is full, you can row away, even though the ones you leave behind will die.

Outright killing someone who is threatening you, is not a crime.

There are WAY to many variables for you statement to hold any water at all.

As far as pregnant women go, let me ask you a question.

IF we, as a society are willing to force a pregnant woman to continue gestation, WHERE do we draw the line regarding the 'life' of the fetus?

Can she engage in behavior, ie. smoking, drinking, exercise, lifestyle, medication, etc. that poses a threat to the fetus?

Basically: At what point does the well being of the fetus override her lifestyle choices?

If you're going to outlaw abortion, this question is the next logical one in the process.

Are you seriously trying to argue that the gift of bearing a child is no different from donating bone marrow?

Have you no humanity woman??

I do, but I'm not sure that you do!

Not if you use the law as an excuse to lose your humanity.

If the day ever arrives that I value a ZEF over an existing woman, THEN I will have lost my humanity.

There ya go again - trying to dismiss an unborn child as a "zef".

Why should an unborn child be valued at anything less than it's mother? Unless the pregnancy genuinely threatens her life, which is only a tiny percentage of cases.

We say 'woman' and 'man' and 'child' and 'toddler' and 'teenager' and 'senior citizen' instead of 'person'. Why shouldn't a zygot, embryo or fetus be referred to as what it is?

Why should an unborn child be valued at anything less than it's mother? Unless the pregnancy genuinely threatens her life, which is only a tiny percentage of cases.
Because an unborn child is less valuable than it's mother.

The usually used abbreviation for zygote, embryo or fetus. Which are the three stages of a developing human after implantation but before birth.
