I think we can agree it ends a potential human life. But what makes it human? What makes it alive?

And then we go back to the brain, and it's development, etc.

You believe it's human at conception. I believe it's human when it can sustain itself outside it's mother's womb and has a working frontal cortex. Which one is scientifically correct? Neither, since science hasn't been able to define that.

We do consider someone dead when they have no brain activity. So, doesn't it stand to reason that they aren't alive until they have that same activity?

Actually if you google the authors of the study, there are several hits. "World Net Daily" is one of MANY.
My apologies for confusing you with another poster. World Net Daily IS one of MANY right wing rags reporting that garbage, but NO MSM has reported on those studies as if they were credible.

Hmmm... I used to say the ultimate form of rejection would be if your hand falls asleep while you're masturbating...

but, "if a paid hooker laughs at you," could certianly be equal.. if not a very close second.

The researchers in question and variations on the data collected have been cited several times. This is other research the authors have conducted.
Social factors in suicide -- Heikkinen et al. 167 (6): 747 -- The British Journal of Psychiatry

And here is their research published in another source.
http://www.annals.org/cgi/reprint/141/2/161.pdf

And a separate study that verified the first.
Suicide Deaths Associated with Pregnancy Outcome: A Record Linkage Study of 173,279 Low Income American Women -- clinmed/2001030003v1 -- Clinical Medicine NetPrints

Just saying.

Perhaps it disturbs you because you believe your view of "honesty" is the only possible view. Abortion isn't the "destruction of a human life." A zef IS "human", "human" in this instance is an adjective. "A human" is a noun. "A human life" cannot be "destructed" before it is "constructed". It requires most of the pregnancy before "a human life"(a noun) is constructed.

Here's a new saying: If you're getting wet, it's raining on you.

God was silent about abortion? Hmmmmm... okay, whatever.

Yes, I realize I can pray to the Cabbage Patch Kids or the Almighty Papa Smurf if I so wish in this country, and I don't want to change that.

I'm not talking about forcing anybody to do anything. I'm just troubled by all the denial surrounding this issue. And the fact that NOW and similar organizations keep trying to piss on my head and tell me it's raining when it comes to the morality of abortion and the destruction of a human life that it involves.
I'm troubled by all the ASSERTIONS surrounding this issue, such as a connection between abortion and breast cancer, suicide, and post-abortion stress trauma. I'm troubled by the assertions that abortion is "immoral" and "it's WRONG", when morality and wrongness are always affected by circumstance. I'm troubled by the assertion that abortion destroys "A human life" as if the entity in the womb is a tiny little complete human being person, when it is obvious it is nothing without a woman's nurturance for 40 weeks. I'm extremely troubled by the assertion that a woman's nurturance for 40 weeks is nothing but an inconvenience, when in actuality a woman risks her health, her appearance, even her life.

I think a lot of people actually believe that Granny.

I used to know a nurse, Ped's ICU for Gods sake, who deliberately got shit faced drunk at 4 months gestation and insisted that it was safe because 'alcohol only hurts the babies brain, and by 4 months the brain is fully developed'!
Bother not the cat. For they are sneaky and will piss on thy keyboard.

Like I said.. rationalization.... and bunches of it.

Here's a new saying: If you're getting wet, it's raining on you.

Here's another old one: Putting lipstick on a pig don't make it Cindy Crawford.

God forbid anybody actually RISK anything for another.. especially her own child!

It seems likely that alcohol had previously affected HER brain.
