| I suppose that maybe since a woman, whom she felt her body was criminally violated, does not want to carry the fetus??? That's just my opinion only. I suppose it would hurt her mentally to carry it to full term and then give the baby up for adoption. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Perhaps, also, to a lesser degree, the adoption system might be structured in the US in a way that expecting mothers don't consider adoption a relatively easy option...at least after the pregnancy goes full-term. Last edited by baloney_detector; 10-11-2007 at 03:50 PM. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

You men, no offense intended, will NEVER EVER know the feeling of bonding that goes on in a woman when she's carrying. You will NEVER EVER know how hard it would be for most women to give that child up once she has felt it move inside her for 4+ months. How many stories have you heard of a woman planning on giving her child up, then when it's born changing her mind? Like it or not, if a woman doesn't want to be pregnant, in the first tri-mester it is just a 'condition' to be taken care of like a cyst. Can any of you men think of the thoughts running through a young, unmarried woman's mind, knowing she's pregnant, thinking of the long term consequences, then realizing that she can go to a clinic and make everything go away? I know. I've been there. I found out I was pregnant at 40. I thought long and hard on whether to keep him or not. When I was pregnant with my 3rd boy, I was in the middle of a bad marriage on the way to a divorce, was unemployed, and already had a 3 year old and a 2 year old. He was that close to not being here. You can't possibly know how hard that kind of decision is. And how it will impact you for the rest of your life. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| "A bad marriage on the way to divorce" didn't stop the screwing though. Just saying. When my wife and I have a tiff the last thing I want to do is screw. If we were "tiffing" bad enough for divorce to be on the table, I seriously doubt she'll be getting pregnant. At least not by me. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Teen mom here. Abortion never crossed my mind, but I had people, such as the guidance counselors at school and my parents, shoving the idea down my throat. Now I have a daughter I did not raise who just got married. I was too young to get a job, too young to rent a house, too young to do anything except take care of her. The decision to give her up was heart-wrenching but it was for the best. Life is sacred to me still as it was then, probably even more so, and at least I don't have to worry about what her life could have been, if only I hadn't had an abortion. Our Task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures, the whole of nature, and its beauty.
