It was a rhetorical question.

My point is that it seems too many threads here end up becoming shouting matches about subjects other than what the thread was originally about. (In your case, that subject is the feeble, tired, and defeated argument that gay people are like pedophiles.)

I will stop short of telling the mods how to do their jobs, but I would consider closing a thread when that happens, in an effort to keep threads on point.
Don't ask questions that you don't want the answer to.

And if you could take a comparison at face value without feebly trying to prove it wrong, the thread wouldn't change. I can take a racial comparison easily and not get carried away. It takes two to have a conversation.

You are the one who is equating being gay with being a predator.

Nope. I equated homosexuals with pedophiles and zoophiles, because they could all make the same arguments to rationalise their sexual dysfunctionality.

Try to keep these lines of argument clear.

Keep it to yourselves, gay people aren't hurting anyone.

Neither are zoophiles, polygamists, nudists, prostitutes or internet gamblers - so why are all those activities illegal?

It's not a "kind of nature". There is only one. If a person is born with 3 legs, they are disordered. Just as blind person.

You aren't coming up with any new arguments. They are all interrelated and homosexuality fails most of them.

Homosexuals trying to marry is like a man trying to have a baby. It's NOT supposed to happen ever naturally. But computer technology has brought it to at least virtual reality.
POP! The First Human Male Pregnancy - Mr. Lee Mingwei

That's absurd. According to you, all pre-menstrual females and all post-menopausal females are "disordered" and "defective." Worth as a person is not measured by breeding capability. Quality of marriage is not measured by breeding capability. You seem quite obsessed by homosexuals...why would that be?
The greatest danger to liberty lurks in the insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding.

I'm sorry that you didn't recognize my rhetorical question, but I still find it a valid and useful communication tool.

What do you suggest I do when the face value of your comparison is zero? Just nod and smile as you build an argument on a faulty foundation?

If pointing out flaws in logic is "getting carried away" then we are all forced to accept anything anyone else says. You don't do this. Why should I?

(NOTE: These are also rhetorical questions. No answers are needed.)

Nope, you should try to explain why you believe the comparison is invalid.

It's called a debate.

"It's not a "kind of nature". There is only one. If a person is born with 3 legs, they are disordered. Just as blind person." That's ridiculous. "Nature" consistently has 'defects' or deviations from the norm. One example of this is a little thing called mutation and without that, you wouldn't be breathing air to spout your misguided tripe.

You know I guess we should all be really excited we have a celebrity on this board. Fxashun personally *knows Nature*! Yes, folks, he's had many varied discussions with this non-living entity and can tell us all what "Nature wanted" and what is "supposed to happen".

Next time you eat a meal with your ears be sure to take some photos and post them here.

Until then the case for purpose within nature remains cast iron.

I'm sure it will remain cast iron in your mind, garysher. Rather than actually engage your skills in critical thinking, you just asked me to do something you know I won't (altho I'm tempted to Shop it) and then claimed that Ridiculous Task X is the crucible upon which we'll decide this issue.

No.

So now you agree that there is purpose and function in nature?

You just added 'function' to the debate. Everything has function.

There is clearly nothing in my post that suggests I changed my point of view. It was a denial of your strawman, which was in this particular case, Ridiculous Task X.

The actual debate has to do with fxashun's claim about what nature intends and my point that mutation is an integral part of the natural world. If you'd like to join us in that discussion, you're welcome to.
