Heh.

I don't think that the objective of abstinence only education is to remove a teenagers predilection for sex, but rather to make them think about not indulging that predilection.

Money well-spent. The religious right get to feel good about what they have done, regardless of teen pregnancy rates... which are going up again.

Coincidence?

Young people are going to have sex. That is a fact. Trying to pretend otherwise with abstinence only education just makes the purveyors of it feel better about themselves.

It's a head in the sand tactic that is failing our young people.

No, the goal has never been to prevent men from having sex, the ultimate goal is to go back to the "good ole days", when there were "good girls" and "bad girls."

But as abstinence is entirely voluntary, the word "prevent" is inaccurate and misleading. Like saying that a tea-totaller is "prevented" from drinking alcohol.

" 'Prevent' implies taking advance measures against something possible or probable" (Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary). RR believes in preventing women, or motivating women, from having sex by (1) abstinence-only sex ed, (2) denied access to BC, (3) denied access to abortion, (4) forcing women who fail the abstinence test to give children up for adoption by failing to provide sufficient financial aid.

Whether people abstain from sex for religious or other reasons, one thing for sure - it's a 100% guaranteed way to avoid becoming pregnant!

Like other birth control methods, abstinence only works when it is applied FAITHFULLY, and abstinence seems to be one of those methods that is difficult to apply diligently.

You seem to live in a dream world where women are perpetually controlled and victimised by men.

No, I want to prevent that nightmare world from ever returning.

What evidence do you have for that nonsense - other than your own bigoted, unsubstantiated "opinion"?

So you don't think it's the woman's responsibility to think about being able to provide for a baby BEFORE having sex?

Now it's everybody else's fault for not giving enough handouts to single mums???

It seems like you adamantly oppose the notion of personal responsibility at every opportunity.

What a bizarre view of life you have!

We have enough unwanted children in the world that enforcing ways to make more is just insanity.

The Christian logic is that if a baby is never born then it can't go to heaven.

They would rather see a child be born and starve to death instead of an abortion.

You act like Christianity is the only religion that deems abortion wrong. It's not. It's not religion that deems abortion wrong, it's good old common sense. You have to be a complete idiot to rationalize your thinking to the point where you convince yourself that a woman shouldn't be/ isn't responsible for the life her actions created.

Bullshit is killing for convenience. Bullshit is 50% of abortions not being the first one. Bullshit?? Yeah there's bullshit here, and it ain't Christianity.

Religious Right: Family
"In the political arena, "pro-family" serves as a code word for opposition to abortion, homosexuality, single-parent families, premarital sex, and a host of other things. Frequently, the vision of "family" means men in control and women submissively doing what they are told. In order to legislate their narrow religious morality, they ride out under the banner of "protecting family values"

Forward To The Past! — Return To 1950s Pathetic Goal For Anyone Claiming To Be A Christian

"The essence of “the next conservatism,” W/L say, is that: “It wants to restore the old ways of life, the ways in which the vast majority of Americans lived up through the 1950s. If it fails in this, if conservatives continue to win politically while losing the culture war, it will have failed in everything.” "

Proof?
All the proof that is needed is to look around. When in the entire history of mankind, has man ever abstained from sex?

Sometimes conception happens in spite of planning, it is then a woman's responsibility to decide how best to handle the situation. She IS responsible. It is not necessary to provide financial aid to women with unwanted pregnancies, but it is necessary to get out of the way of their obtaining abortions; financial aid would reduce the number of abortions. If you want to prevent abortions, put your money where your mouth is. A woman IS personally responsible for an unwanted pregnancy, she will handle it how she sees best in the circumstance, we have no right to dictate to her what she MUST do.

It would be very well if you women would simply stop spredding your legs to every John Thomas that happens about. If so, the need for an abortion would matter not!

It would be very well if you men would control your sperm. Unwanted pregnancies don't happen when men control their sperm.

Hate is NOT a 'family value.'
Feminism: the radical notion that women are human beings.
