Increased access to contraception causes abortion?????
The right wing doesn't like this bill because their primary goal is NOT saving fetuses, the primary goal is to control when women can have sex. Increasing access to contraception gives WOMEN more choices.

Low-income birth control bill passes house despite Republican objections | News | The Tribune

A bill aimed at providing more low-income Colorado residents with birth control options passed the state House on Monday despite objections from House Republicans that the bill will indirectly provide money for abortions.....

Riesberg said the bill will save Colorado money by expanding how the federal government pays for low-income people who receive reproductive health services, including contraception and sterilization, from health-care providers.

Riesberg said similar bills in Arkansas, Alabama and Florida have saved those states millions of dollars by keeping some unintended pregnancies from happening, though it is unclear how much money, if any, this bill would save Colorado if signed by Ritter.....

At present, residents who make less than 150 percent of the poverty line qualify for Medicaid to pay for such services. The state's bill would increase qualifications for people to those that make less than 200 percent of the poverty line. Under that figure, a family of four with two children would be eligible for the reproductive health services under Medicaid if the family makes less than $42,000 per year combined.

State Republicans were worried that the bill could free up money at places such as Planned Parenthood for abortions, but Democrats said the Colorado Constitution ensures that no state or federal funds can be used to pay for abortions or for services to undocumented workers or minors.

But Rep. Kevin Lundberg, R-Berthoud, said the increased funding for places like Planned Parenthood will still provide money for abortions.

"In an indirect way, this would fund abortion services, and that's illegal," Lundberg said. "This flies in the face of the (Colorado) constitution."

Yeah, let's pass a law that everyone has to ask PN's permission first. That'll be effective.

What would be far more effective is to establish a "Ministry of Fucking." Potential fuckmates would be subjected to a screening process. Those deemed unfit for producing children would be subject to mandatory sterilization. Homosexuals would be exempt from such a process of course.

LOL, haven't you observed that the right wing is heavily invested in abstinence only sex ed? The purpose is supposedly to prevent women from having sex before marriage. They don't want young women to know about contraceptives or abortion because they think if women know about the availability of BC or abortion, they will immediately go have sex. The right wing cares about women having pre-marital sex because that is against their religious teachings and they think everyone should conform to their beliefs. They don't care so much about males having pre-marital or extra-marital sex.

Yeah, we ought to give that Sharia law a go for a while. Of even Hindu. People act like Christianity is the only game going. Ignorant.
And increased availability to birth control just might increase abortions. The bleak outlook on birth control presented by the pro-abortion advocates here show that it doesn't prevent pregnancy in many cases. If more people have more sex because they have freer access to birth control, there may just be more abortions.

If sexual abstinence is adopted as a method of birth control then both women AND men are "prevented" from having sex.

But as abstinence is entirely voluntary, the word "prevent" is inaccurate and misleading. Like saying that a tea-totaller is "prevented" from drinking alcohol.

Whether people abstain from sex for religious or other reasons, one thing for sure - it's a 100% guaranteed way to avoid becoming pregnant!

You seem to live in a dream world where women are perpetually controlled and victimised by men.

Nothing is further from the truth, but perhaps you enjoy luxuriating in victimhood?

$1bn 'don't have sex' campaign a flop as research shows teenagers ignore lessons | World news | The Guardian

After 1 billion dollars, "A survey of more than 2,000 teenagers carried out by a research company on behalf of Congress found that the half of the sample given abstinence-only education displayed exactly the same predilection for sex as those who had received conventional sex education in which contraception was discussed."

Heh.
