Well said!
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

Do you think a minor's right to privacy should extend to their school work, school reports, teacher conferences etc?

Should a minor have a right to privacy about where they go after school or in the evenings? And who they go with?

You can't base laws on the premise that all parents are irresponsible flakes.

This is a total crock. Give a child a chance to avoid responcibility and they will, no matter how great there parents are. Its obvious you didnt pay much attention to your children, or any children for that matter.

Your comeback to that post was lame Grace. Because that post is true. Pregnancy isn't punishment for being irresponsible, neither is forced motherhood before a child is willing to be one.

And Gary for all your hot air, you are forgetting that women are stuck with these losers because unfortunately, a great deal of men behave that way. Perhaps you should take that up with others of your gender and find a possible solution. Sorry if I offend the men out there, but facts are facts, and the lower you go on the economic scale, the more prevalent it is. I'm not saying that there aren't exceptions, my husband isn't wealthy, and he does provide for us. But we came to a mutual agreement that I would stay at home with the kids and he would work full time. But since we aren't wealthy enough to do that, I work part time nights and weekends to make up the difference. Then he's home with them, while I'm working. Not all men do that though. Many just leave, or some other variant occurs. And not all men are telegraphing to the world that they are really scumbags in a good man's costume. Stop blaming women for men's shortcomings and figure out your own mal-adaptations, Gary.

And you can't make laws that discriminate against the kids who don't have great parents, Gary, which I think are the majority anymore, unfortunately. I'm curious as to the backgrounds that you two came from, Gary and Grace. You don't have to satisfy it, but I wish you would. I'm sensing that it might be a lack of experience in life that allows you both to think our world is peaches and cream, leave it to beaver-esque.

Perhaps if parents accurately gauge their children's maturity level in these other areas and grant them the autonomy they can handle, the subject of minor pregnancy wouldn't come up.

You are wanting to base a law on the premise that ALL young pregnant girls will evade telling their parents, when the facts show that MOST of them willingly inform their parents. I am wanting to keep government out of the situation entirely, and leave the matter to the discretion of those involved.

Grace, I am a teacher, a many-years-experienced Sunday School teacher, and have reared 4 children to responsible adulthood. I know a little something about children.

Maybe the child who is avoiding responsibility is simply learning it from their caretaker, isn't that how it usually works? If your kids are that way Grace, maybe you should do some soul searching.

Good point. I cannot help but think of my teenage nephew. I cannot imagine him not going to his mother if he was in any sort of serious trouble.

Granted he might come to me or my partner first to ask, "How the Hell am I going to tell Mom? And can I live with you if her head explodes?"

But I know he would go to her because he knows that, once she calmed down, she would help him do whatever was necessary to solve any problem.

If you expect children will be responsible, they will. If you expect them to try to worm out of their responsibilities, they will.
