It is embarrassing to her to talk with me about it. And as I said, I am very cool and open about this stuff. We talk about everything together, religion, politics, history, music, clothes, etc. But when I trun the conversation to boys or sex, she is visibly looking for a place to hide. So I am very thankful that she has some other information from school besides what the other kids are telling her. We are very close, and we have discussed sex, and she knows what I needed her to know about it, but she isn't going to come to me with the important questions, especially if she thinks I would not approve of what she is asking about. (The only thing that I don't approve of is her having sex at 14, but if she were going to, she isn't going to tell me until a long time afterwards.) So can you imagine how some of these other kids whose parents don't discuss sex with them, or who have made it clear to their kids in some way that it is unacceptable for them to have these human urges or to act on them, must feel when faced with making choices about their sexual lives?
If she's not listening to that sex talk you are struggling to give her, how do you propose to keep her from "men like me"?

Quite telling....

Hate is NOT a 'family value.'

She isn't leaving, she is just visibly uncomfortable. And at 14, she already has learned enough to know to stay away from men like you. I am her mother, after all, and with my family's dysfunction, I made damn sure she would get all the info she needed in order to be successful in life, and not follow the footsteps of those who screwed up before her. She is observant and has seen, with my help, just how people mess up, and from what she's seen, she does not want that life for herself. I had the benefit of horrible parents, and she knows and understands what causes pain and suffering, and how to avoid that. And she also knows that I am here to support her if she ever makes bad choices or messes things up. We all do, and we all need someone to love us and help us through the bad times.

What's at stake is kids who are only told "DONT HAVE SEX!" have it anyway and have it unsafely.

You can tell them it's wrong all you want, and it will just make them want to do it more.

Yeah, once they get into the orgasm, there's no way they can stop.

Anybody remember the scene in the movie "The Right Stuff", where Dennis Quaid, who played Mercury 7 astronaut Gordon Cooper, was shown a gadget given to him by a tall nurse, named Nurse Murch, played by Jane Dornacker? She wanted his sperm in that gadget, and Quaid asked her how can he get his sperm in there.

Her reply was "fantasy, followed by masturbation, followed by ejaculation."

When he suggested to her that if she could help him, she stood up in a shadowy part of her office, and said, "BRING IT TO THE LAB!" LOL
