We", as in society, just sent our representatives on the FLDS ranch and ripped 400 kids from their homes off a unsubstantiated abuse report of a 16 year old. Most of the kids are nowhere near 16 and IMHO, it much more abusive to take the kids away from their parents and lifestyle just because we don't understand them.
There is nothing unsubstantiated about 13 year old mothers. And they have plenty of evidence to do exactly what they did. It is the state's job to protect those children and shouldn't have taken so long to do it. Those people and their lifestyle are engaging in forced child marriages, and impregnating girls as young as 13. We are free to believe in GOd in whatever way we choose, but we are not free in this country to abuse children. FX, you need to get your facts straight. I see with some people it's okay to abuse children as long as it is done in the name of God, but an abortion of a first trimester embryo is the worst thing a person can do. Wow. It really does come down to people still wishing to control women. That is what it all comes down to.

Why should there be laws against holding signs? Even if we don't like what they say. There is these cute little blonde girls that do racist songs. The parents are KKK people or some crap. I saw em on one of those Inside Edition type shows. But as much as I hate the message, I think we would be going down some crazy slope if we tell parents that they can't teach their children what they believe. If it's that wrong, and the kids are intelligent, they'll grow out of it.

Perhaps it's best these kids are taken away from these idiots. It's not even clear who the moms and dads are in this wacky cult. Now the kids have a chance at being exposed to the real world and won't grow up all fucked-up like the young women who finally escaped and joined mainstream society.

People like this need to die off the same way as perpetual welfare recipients.

But that's not the premise that they went in for. They went in for "abuse" of a 16 year old.
And 13 is fine by some states with parental consent. If there are any "forced" marriages, we'll see. 14 was the law in Texas until 2005 with an eye toward the FLDS.
Texas Legislature passed laws in 2005 to tighten screws on FLDS.
I realize it is a blog, but there is a link there to the actual changes in the laws.

Naa, it's not abuse if the women are there willingly, and I have yet to hear a report of ANYONE wanti ng to leave the ranch after the raid. Those poor abused women have the freedom to leave now, and of all the women in the news, it seems that hasn't happened. If this is the life that this closed community chooses to live, I have no problem with it. They are not parading it in front of people and they have built their own self sufficient community, and aren't bothering any one. That's a LONG way to go just to control a few stinking women. In fact, if the only complaint is legally contrived "abuse", "abuse" that was made "abuse" with an eye toward them, this looks more like persecution to me.

Abortion is killing.

Freedom of speech can go anyway it likes, without brainwashing young children to hate. THAT should be a crime, and those children should be taken away from their parents.

Hate what? Jews, Mexicans, Blacks, Whites, poor people, , men, women, ex-spouses, short people, tall people, Gay people, sick people, people that cut you off in traffic? Quite a precident you might be asking for. Cause everybody hates something, just because you don't like the message doesn't give you a right to take away someone's kids. If that were the case, we'd probably run out of foster parents. Not to mention foster parent probably have their own prejudices.
Sorry teaching kids your values, even f'd up ones, shouldn't be a crime. There are many worse things that can happen to a child that aren't prosecuted.

People that cut me off in traffic should be put to death. The same fate should be applied to those who tailgate me.

It is probable that some of the children removed from the Texas ranch were brought out of the Colorado City compound, and don't even have parents living with them in Texas. Apparently that is why many of the men would not submit to the DNA testing done yesterday. The women in this community are just as indoctrinated and fearful of the outside world as the children are. They consider the outside world as the beast, but have no problem collecting welfare checks from the state. When a 13 year old child is forced into marriage and has three children by the time she is 18, what choices are open to her outside of the ranch? If you cannot see the that this is child abuse, then you need serious help.

If what you say about these children is true then it's a terrible situation.

But what about these women who chose to join this weird cult and subjugate themselves to these idiot men of their own free will??

They aren't helping the feminist cause to put it mildly.

I don't know of any examples of cults where men voluntarily subjugate themselves to women (although there would probably be plenty of volunteers!).
