I think it would be pertinent to find out how many women have joined the cult, versus how many themselves have been born into it. My guess is that many, many of them have been born into it, and are indeed brainwashed from the moment they are born.

And you don't need to trust my information, you are free to look into it yourself. You will find that what I say is the truth, and that these kids are being systematically abused, along with the women who don't seem to be able to think a single thought of their own.

They consider the outside world as the beast, but have no problem collecting welfare checks from the state. When a 13 year old child is forced into marriage and has three children by the time she is 18, what choices are open to her outside of the ranch? If you cannot see the that this is child abuse, then you need serious help.
About 10,000 13 year olds a year get pregnant. And the welfare rolls are full of 18-20 year olds with multiple kids and pregnancies. I don't see what the issue is.
There were 140 or so something women and 416 kids up to around 16. If we use your numbers, the number of kids and women seem to indicate all the the parents were on site.

IMHO, you're just as "indoctrinated" that this is wrong, as you claim they are "indoctrinated" that this is right. Again, if there are 13 year olds that didn't want to be there, they have full freedom now to leave, I don't see it happening. No physical abuse has been mentioned and the kids have all been described as mannerable. I'm sorry, if this is the way these people choose to live and raise their kids, more power to them. It beats raising kids in a project with police sirens, gunfire, and the fear that they might get shot in their beds. That's what the government offers.

Sounds like most religions.

This is a lot of trouble to go through just to be able to have sex with a 13 year old. Your premise sounds rather weak. Create an entire compound and way of life simply that you might be able to have underage sex for what was one year when they made the plans to move there? That's just silly.

Can you tell us what information you have to substantiate widespread child abuse in this wacko Texas cult?

At this stage it's still innocent until proven guilty. Although pregnant 14 and 15 year olds will take a lot of explaining, especially if the babies' DNA matches some of those weird old guys.

But my point is this - if women are equal then how the hell do they end up in these situations??

This cult isn't old enough for them to have been born into it, so presumably they joined of their own free will.

And why does this stuff only happen in America?

This cult is absolutely old enough for most of the followers to have born into it. All information from those few who have had the courage to leave the cult indicates that women and children are brainwashed and afraid. Women in these cults are positively NOT equal. The allegation has been made of child abuse, now an investigation must take place, that's what always happens when allegations of child abuse are made.
Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS Church) is one of the largest Mormon fundamentalist denominations[1][2] and one of America's largest practitioners of plural marriage.[3] The FLDS Church emerged in the 1930s when its founding members left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The split occurred largely because of the LDS Church's renunciation of polygamy and its decision to excommunicate practitioners of plural marriage in southern Utah and northern Arizona"

"Abortion ban on ballot

PIERRE (AP) Supporters of a statewide abortion ban said Monday they have filed petition signatures to put the proposal on the November general election ballot in South Dakota.

Leslee Unruh, executive director of VoteYesForLife.com, said the petitions were turned into the secretary of state's office late Monday afternoon. State officials said it might take up to a month to make sure enough valid signatures are on the petitions, she said.

Unruh said supporters collected 46,393 signatures, more than twice the number needed to put the proposal on the ballot for a statewide public vote.

The initiated law would prohibit abortions except in cases of rape or incest.

Leaders of the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families, an abortion rights group, responded by saying they think voters will reject it, as they did to a more encompassing ban two years ago."
A few months ago all of the sudden there were these people, with signs about taking the right to choose away from Women, outside a clinic by my house, everyday on my way to work I would tell them "why stop it, so they can die in Iraq?" After about 4 to 5 day's they were gone!

Those are two entirely different situations. And I think if you asked some of these girls what they would prefer, you might be surprised. At least the people in the projects aren't denied an education in history and science, not to mention current events. These 13 year old girls you are talking about being free to leave, have absolutley no information about the ouitside world, except that it is evil and dangerous. I still don't understand how you don't see what is really going on there or how you can defend it. Please let me know when you decide to actually read something from someone who has been there, and not just what the people who support the FLDS are saying. Because it is clear that you haven't educated yourself in the facts here, and if you have, and you still support them, you should go and join them. They are a cult and fit every definition of what a cult is. A "religion" is not free to enslave 1/2 of it's population, not in the U.S.A., anyway.

That is your opinion. And you still haven't bothered to read the actual facts about the FLDS, that is clear from your posts.
