And of course it is not a matter of morals "bending and breaking" in any way at all.
In our present law, achieved by overwhelming consensus, self defense is the permissible justification for taking the life of another human.
It is perfectly consistent to apply the same reasoning to abortion.
Thus,

If you're going to have sex, use birth control and protection. Period. Accidents happen, so have Plan B. They ARE possible to get, even if you need a prescription. Call up Planned Parenthood. It's not that hard to have a contingency plan (and you save $500 on an abortion procedure). But Hell, it's their money their wasting.

I've stated before I believe abortions should be allowed only in the first trimester, but regardless, abortions are a matter of convenience. There's rarely a reason why a person can't bring the baby to term and put it up for adoption. Either way, after the first trimester, that giant tumor in the uterus has developed sensory nerves and can feel pain. If you haven't decided whether or not you want it by then, you need your head examined.

Anyways, to answer the thread title directly: Abortion is NEVER the only choice. This is just an emotional appeal. As I stated above, if you're sexually active, use BC.

You should also make every effort to get a plan B within 72 hours. It's your decision whether or not you go to every length possible to do so, and whatever length you go to obtain them will almost inevitably be cheaper than an abortion procedure.

Nobody forces you to get an abortion. It's your decision. Waiting 5 or 6 months to get one is just asinine. Why didn't you get a plan B right after? I could understand initially being in such shock about everything, and a few of my friends were a complete mess after it happened to them. The key to it is making sure you pull yourself together (through support of friends or any other way. Perhaps they could accompany the victim or get it for them if they are also female) and get the plan B pill ASAP. Pregnancy is prevented in the first place, and you save money on an abortion.

I also don't get the incest aspect of this whole debate. Why is incest a valid scenario for abortion? It is either rape, in which case my case above stands, or it was consensual, in which case it's just another abortion, and both parties need their heads checked. Could anyone clear up why incest really matters in the "Life of mother, rape, incest" trifecta?

Women get legal or illegal abortions for lots of reasons......and I know few women who would willingly carry a rape baby....almost none..... The psychological and emotional effects can be life destroying....

Incest is a horrible, ugly crime. It does often permanent damage to the victim, female OR male. The vast majority is NOT consensual..... The same psychological and emotional effects are the same as rape in most cases.... Tabris, are you a guy? Few women would ask your question.... Just curious....

Yes, I'm a guy. And I just said exactly what you stated. Non-consensual incest is rape. Concensual incest won't damage anyone cuz they're already messed up enough to do it anyway. So, you just proved my point as to why the distinction is useless.
