Dems Ignore Abortion's Negative Effects

In case more proof were needed that when liberals use the term “pro-choice,” what they really mean is “pro-abortion,” a report released recently by Democrats on the House Government Reform Committee alleges pregnancy resource centers that receive federal funding presented “misleading information” and “grossly misrepresented” the health risks related to abortion.

What health risks were reported? Breast cancer, infertility, and stress disorders -- all negative outcomes linked to abortion by numerous studies in respected, peer-reviewed academic journals. Putting aside the fact that committee aides posing as pregnant 17-year-olds spoke to a grand total of 23 pregnancy centers (not exactly a large sample size), the fact is that negative physical and emotional responses to abortion can be both profound and far-reaching.

Breast Cancer

While the report alleges, “there is a medical consensus that induced abortion does not cause an increased risk of breast cancer,” there are at least eight medical organizations that acknowledge abortion leaves women with an increase in cancer-vulnerable tissue. In fact, the National Cancer Institute website clearly states that, “the possible relationship between abortion and breast cancer has been examined in over thirty published studies since 1957. Some studies have reported statistically significant evidence of an increased risk of breast cancer in women who have had abortions, while others have merely suggested an increased link. Other studies have found no increase in risk among women who had an interrupted pregnancy.”

Infertility

Although the committee report takes issue with the fact that some of the pregnancy centers claimed abortion “could” hurt a woman’s chances of having children in the future, numerous studies have demonstrated a strong link. Then you are for providing condoms and birth control at schools and to the general public free of charge?

That would greatly reduce the number of abortions.

Why do they have to be free of charge?

Let's be realistic, these Absitenence programs are crap. We would be much better off teaching safe sex. If it would help keep down the abortion rate, I wouldn't mind going with it.

No, I am not for providing condoms at schools and the general public free of charge. The parents of the kids can buy them if they want their kids to have them, that is not the job of the school.
If you want everything free, why don't you move to a socialist country.

If you actually wanted less abortions you would be for free birth control and condoms for everyone.

It is clear this is not what you want. You just want your religious ideals reflected in our system of law. Petty at best. This is something that would AUCTUALLY make a huge impact on the number of abortions in the US.

You can be for less abortions without giving out free condoms and birth control. There is such a thing as being principled and holding true to ones beliefs. We have become a nation where the mantra from Nike is so apparent. JUST DO IT. Well, what is wrong with saying that one should refrain from having sex if one is not ready to raise children.

Sexual intercourse when not related to procreation is nothing more than self-gratification. One does not need to have sex to have a good time. One can delay self-gratification until such time as one is ready and responsible enough to face the outcome of their actions.

If you wish to have sex that is your choice, however, it should not become my responsiblilty to take care of your mistakes. Somewhere along the line, a true citizen takes responsibility for their actions. A subject allows others to so.
