Child and Indago,

I respect you guys, but I don't understand the last two posts.

Are you questioning why God would even allow life to come from crisis sex?

Or perhaps more to the point, you are questioning whether there even is a God?

I am not sure I follow the dialog. Maybe it is just me.

And don't be too adamant to make your judgment call of murder,. your politics over rule your concern for the people who find themselves facing this situation.

I use to work at a homeless shelter for women, I do know just a wee bit on this topic...though I maintain a pro-life view, I do not believe you are close enuf to the situation to call it convenience. Unless you think it is merely convenient to survive.

Dearie;

I was on the board of directors that STARTED a pregnancy center, in the city where my family used to live. Full support, from start to finish, was provided for ANY woman who sought it - and it was all free. Everything from free testing, to counseling, to free clothing, parenting classes, adoption options, etc. The ONLY thing that wasn't provided - free of charge - was abortions!

Do NOT presume to think I'm not close enough to the "situation" to know what's going on.

In addition, if there was a girl/woman in a crisis pregnancy, she would be welcome in our home and my wife and I would do everything we could to support and care for her.

All that means is that I AM involved, and have been involved, in caring for those in crisis pregnancies - and have been far more involved then the wackos who walk around with signs saying, "My Body My Choice!"

And that still does not alter the FACT that over 95% of all abortions take place as nothing more than post-intercourse birth control. Let's deal with the 95% FIRST, then talk turkey about the other 5%!

Jefferson,
Please accept my most genuine apologies. I am truly very sorry for drawing a wrong conclusion by your previous post.

I know it was my fault, and that what I did in fact, was project from others I have known because some of your words would be the same words I would have heard by those...

You see as much as there are pro-choice folk out there with their signs and doing nothing, so there are those who are willing to stand with signs for pro-life or make human prayer chains on the streets and such, but they are still carrying judgement against young women who experience crisis pregnancy.

And I have known many in the churches I use to go to that had the doublespeak thing going on. The pro-life and Jesus loves you mantras, and yet not the truly non-judgmental support and unconditional love to be there for anyone...

I also think many a young Christian woman experiences a crisis pregnancy cos she is told that sex before marriage is a sin, and so she does not want to get birth control cos that is like making plans to sin. And so she finds her strong convictions fail her in a moment and without contraception...And you would perhaps be surprised to know how many of these girls are by their parents, "made" to get abortions in cities they do not live in.

I have known of two such cases...which might not sound like alot. But I am guessing it happens more than what we would want to believe.

But back to my reason for posting: sorry, Jefferson for saying things that were jumping to false conclusions about you personally.
Please forgive me.

I don't think many people understand the difficulty in putting a child up for adoption. It's often emotionally devastating for the mother, because regardless, it's her child. Still, keeping the child isn't much better in that both are often doomed to poverty.

In the end, I think the argument boils down to one very philosophical argument: Is it better to destroy one life or ruin two?

That's not true.

99% of all abortions are a result of nothing more than poor, irresponsible choices. Yet pro-abortionists are always screaming about "cases of rape and incest", the numbers of which are infinitesimal.

I have one brother-in-law & sister-in-law who aren't able to get pregnant. Two years ago they adopted a newborn baby girl, who was born to a 15-year old who had been being stupid, and got herself pregnant. The adoptive couple, in their 30s, are absolutely delighted and in love with their girl. The biological mother is finishing high school, and fully aware that the baby she gave birth to is being loved, and well cared for.

It's a win-win situation.

Abortion, on the other hand, is murder and is a lose-lose situation.

Yes it may be, Jeff. But it is also a perpetually wrong perspective to always tag the girl as stupid and make her solely responsible for these kind of things. And you do make her so by your words...no mention of the father of the child, or the stupidity of a young man who couldn't restrain his hormones.

If God had made guys to be the ones that got pregnant for having sex, there would be far, far less teenage pregnancies. Guaranteed!

Sorry for that miscue.

I have no idea who the father is. Neither do my brother-in-law & sister-in-law.

As far as I'm concerned, EVERY baby born out-of-wedlock should have a blood sample taken, and a DNA test done to determine who the father is. That "sperm donor", who got his sexual jollies and left, should be responsible for child support payments for the next 18 years.

You're right - obviously - it takes two to get pregnant. And more often then not, it's NOT the girl who was/is "enjoying it". Few, if any, girls like sex that they're pressured in to.

My point was, is, and always will be this: THE UNBORN CHILD SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY - WITH HIS/HER LIFE - FOR THE STUPID BEHAVIOR OF THE PEOPLE WHO CONCEIVED HIM/HER.
