I didn't think you were taking a shot at me Preacher.

Info from? Like all things when revolving around religious beliefs, it's about having faith. And my perspective, on how I view Jesus is one of faith. It may differ from your own, but it's no more right or wrong then your own...Just different.

Just as you can't prove your religious opinion, neither can I. Nor do I choose to even attempt to prove either yours or my spiritual opinions. It's not a contest Preacher, so why even try to turn it into such?

I'd think you'd be happy that at least I do respect Jesus the man. Rather then attempt the 'my reality is the right reality' argument? I enjoy the bible. But unlike you I do not adhere to it's teachings nor embrace the philosophies that a Christian does. So I ask you that even if you can't accept my beliefs, you respect them. And I will do likewise with you.

No. It was a claim made by his followers to keep alive Jesus spirit and message only. As such, Jesus does live in a way, but only in the minds and hearts of those that take hope in a message of love and tolerance.

Im not saying any of that. And I do respect your beliefs. All Im saying is, there is only one way to know about Jesus Christ, through scripture. We dont have any other direct record of him what so ever. Unless he came to you directly, there is no way to know about him, but to go striaght to the horses mouth. So all im asking is, how did you come to believe what you do about him? Not to try to hurt you at all, but to understand where your coming from.

You say that you respect my beliefs then contridict yourself in the very next sentence by stating 'there is only one way to know about Jesus Christ'. You don't even realize that by saying such, that you are doing exactly what you were asked not to do...That of approaching my religious views with your own 'correction' as to how I percieve my views?

I understand for you, that you believe it's through the bible that you will come closer to Jesus and understanding him...For me though, the bible is no proof to me and holds no meanings to me on a spiritual level. You view it as holy scripture, I give you that respect, but personally to me it's a book of inspiration but isn't a belief I embrace or follow...

You read the scriptures and it confirms your beliefs and allows you a way to approach that spirituality by your interpretation of it's contents...

I read the scriptures and I see a really nice story that includes war, famine, salvation, etc...But it doesn't encourage me on my spiritual path...If anything it makes me feel sorry for all the suffering done through hate, intolerance, and inability to learn/share in this world with other different.

Your encouraged to view Jesus as something more...I'm not nor have the intrest in elevating him to a higher level just to 'fit in'...

So trying to correct me, or to tell me I can only understand Jesus the man through your scriptures, or that to accept the man then I must make him a god???

Respecting means that you should only applie those beliefs to yourself, not respond in a corrective manner when they view Jesus in a different light. Basically, your own words were telling me I was wrong...

Discovery and History Channels are my favorites...Right next to Court T.V. and Crime T.V.

I personally do not believe that the bible alone is sufficiant for anyone to understand it's complexities...As it's only a portion of the whole, a believer isn't getting the whole story or value of it's message. So much was left out of the OT from it's adaption from the Torah...And one needs the Koran to get even more perspective of who the Virgin, Mary M, and Jesus were to get a full appreciation of all of Jesus' teachings...

Rarely though does Christianity in general teach that forward thinking.

Throughout the history of mankind, we've had a number of great prophets. Jesus was but one of them. Budda, Confusious, the Dali Lama, John Paul (recent departed pope) are but a few. But each century, the Divine has inspired another to spread the message of hope, understanding, and spirituality. Each with a different approach to spreading that message, all doing so within their own religious upbringing, yet sharing the same experience and teachings.

That the Divine loves all it's children. That the Divine wishes us to embrace that which is in us already. And that it's children treat one another with the same love the Divine shines down to us regardless of the misunderstandings created by division of civilization.

But why do we need prophets, why can't God just tell us in person...
