Ok, i respect your beliefs. True, through time we have defined God in a certain way, but i will stand by what i said. I do believe you to some extent on the "system we do not fully comprehend yet."

Ok then. This thread was a different one, wanted to start something else by replying to some other thoughts. My thoughts of every one being Devine, well god made us in his image, so we are considered devine in God's eye. God loves us and we are his most complex and loved creation. To other people, devine is ONLY a God. We all posses a unique talent which to some may be a "power" but this does not really make you "devine". God consideres us all devine on a humanly level, not a godly matter. (Not trying to revert back to that goddess thing. Still sorry about it.)
Ok, now I see where you're coming from...You're referring to how KOS and I choose to use 'The Divine' rather then the word 'God', right?

And when you see us use 'The Divine' in that manner, you are seeing us as saying the same thing when in regards to the statement 'the Divine within us' as meaning we are claiming to be actual gods?

ROTFLMAOL!!! The word 'divine' in itself has many meanings. Like you we believe that The Divine lives within. BUT, that is totally different then us saying we ARE the Divine...

The choice to use 'The Divine' in place of 'God' is how we address the Divine on a personal level. You see 'God' as what the bible describes The Divine to be as. A male enity, all knowing, all powerful.

KOS (correct me if I'm wrong KOS) and I on the other hand, are not Christians. We do not see the Divine as a male enity. I can't speak for her, but to me The Divine is genderless. It's both male and female, yet it's neither. It's something that can't be defined but yet is described in all religions. Sometimes as a male, other times as a female. Depending on the culture and the teachings, The Divine appears to it's believers in those forms...In otherwords...The Divine appears in your life as a male...While in a goddess culture will appear as a female.

Also in that light, by reference to 'the Divine lives within us' doesn't mean we consider ourselves gods either. But it's the theology that it's through mankind that the Divine is expressed and is allowed to walk among us. So it's our faith that gives it meaning and life, thus lives through us and our faiths. So....You're correct in your beliefs as that's how the Divine has revealed itself to you...But then again, so are those that see the Divine differently.

Unfortunately, I've got to be going. Hopefully KOS will elaborate? And I do look forward myself to continueing the discussion between yourself and me as well.

Alright, I guess i screwed things up. True i do believe in the Devine in a different way than you intended. I was raised that way. Now that i know you are not christians and i respect what you believe and the Devine being genderless. What culture believes in a goddess as a Devine? I would like to know. You are right with people seeing the Devine differently and i did not take that into consideration.

You are right and i must take other's definitions and religions into consideration. You're right, by reading the bible i do believe that "The Devine" is a male figure.

Oh i have one question, what does ROTFLMAOL mean? Well, i too would like to continue these conversations.

It's perfectly reasonable that you should be allowed to follow your own path. Hopefully your family will come to accept it and it won't be such an issue.

Unfortunately, I had to run an errand so I have to catch up now.

You have stated my position very well Ali. Thank you. I will continue...

I prefer the phrase 'the Divine' because it is genderless. (I will also sometimes say God or Goddess depending on mood.) The terms the Source or the All are also commonly used in the same manner, in case you run across it.

We are spiritual beings housed in magnificent bodies. We are all interconnected and connected to the Divine. The Divine flows through all of us and we are a part of that energy. I don't know if that explains things very well, but I would be more than glad to elaborate if you have any questions.

That is one of the great things about a forum like this. Discussing different perspectives and beliefs can be quite enjoyable!

Many pagan cultures before being overtaken by Abrahamic religions worshipped female divine figures. Most recognized both male and female figures in their beliefs. This can still be seen in a number of polytheistic religions such as Hinduism, Native American spirituality, Shinto and many of the African tribal religions.

Again, only my opinion, but in order for one to be male or female, one must have a physical body. Not to disrespect your beliefs at all, mind you. I personally think that it was written in the male sense because of the time period so that people would understand. How can God be limited to one gender?

So would I! I think that it would be quite interesting.

Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance.

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."
