though i don't believe guys should be allowed to declare whether or not a woman may persue an abortion, i value your opinions.. i guess. should abortions be made illegal, teen pregnancy rates would soar across the nation, not only as they do now in those red states where abstinance is the prime method of birth control taught in schools. just thought i'd throw that in there.
and so it goes. .

-I hear some people saying people in the blue states are smarter.
-I hear some people saying people in the blue states have a higher income.
-Now I hear that red states are seeing a soar in teen pregnancy rates.

You just can't compare things to whether the majority of the people living in the states are republicans or democrats. You need to compare what action each person has taken and whether they are a republican or a democrat to prove your point.

You do know that red states are not 100% republicans? Why don't they grab the political status of every teen that has gotten pregnant and add them to the list of "democrats" or "republicans"?? I'm sure you wouldn't want that though.

Red states and Blue states=wrong way to compare numbers.

I'm not going against your argument. I am just going against you comparing numbers to make it look like the "red states" are experiencing the problems.

Just want to know if you have statistical facts to back up your point so we can debate.
Third,Why should guys not have any say in whether or not women should pursue an abortion? It takes 2 to make a baby.Where are the fathers rights in this decision? Before you get mad,I have an 11 year old son with a woman I was dating so I have been there before. He is the light of my life.Mypoint is that guys also need to stay in the decision maling process as it also affects them.I love my son and for the life of me cannot remember what my life was like before he came along.

hey.. check out http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/state...ncy_trends.pdf

i think what i said was taken differently than i would have liked.. sorry!

i realize that you're gonna need a man to make that baby. but you need the woman to hold it for nine months. some women are just not ready to go through the process, being it age or emotionally. if a woman is not ready to even consider a pregnancy, in an idealistic world, she should not be having sex. but in our society it isn't possible to assume that everyone is thinking like this. i'm just saying that a man shouldn't make it illegal for a woman to have the option of an abortion. it is, after all, her body. i believe that "backalley" abortions of the past will come back if women are denied the medical service they need.

to the man with a son who posted, i'm glad you have a great relationship with him. really, good for you to be able to work that out.
and so it goes. .

Thanks for the PDF file.I will check it out when I have some more time. Don't you think that a better way to stop unwanted pregnancy would be if there was more involvement by immediate family. What I mean is that if there was a better home life and family dynamic, alot of girls(women) would have a higher sense of self esteem and wouldn't allow themselves to get into that kind of a situation in the first place?
If we stop that kind of activity in the first place, then there wouldn't be a problem for us to sit around and debate about.

my stance? Very clear... I don't care what the circumstances... abortion should be illegal. I was raped and I know that if I had gotten pregnant I would've never considered abortion. It would've made it worse for me in the end. And if it was a choice between my life or my child's... my child would live. He/She has more years ahead of them.

That is your CHOICE. What is wrong is when people want to dictate other people's choices.
