| "Apparently you are overlooking the fact that the "single human cell" will become a person within a few months..." ---------------------- Well, that conclusion isn't evidently shared by most-if not all-anti-choice individuals I have discussed this topic with. (I don't recall ever saying that a chicken is equivalent to a human being or a person in my earlier reply. Although, at the cellular and sub-cellular level, there are many, many similarities shared between all multicellular organisms, such as humans and chickens.) | |||||||||||||||||||||

| "Explain what you mean by that??" ------------------- Well, if you ask most anti-choice individuals if a single, just-fertilized human egg is a person (or a human being) they are likely to say "yes". Evidently, you appear to disagree with them. "Let's face it the abortion debate is about morals, not cellular structures" ---------------------- Oh, I'd say that there are many facets to the abortion issue. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| baloney, what does morals have to do with it? morals is adhering to the code of behavior that is considered right or acceptable in a particular society. Abortion is certainly accepted in contemporary American society. __________________ =========================== "Right" and "acceptable" are two different concepts. For example, homosexual behaviour may be accepted but that doesn't mean it's right. Good to see my buddy had the guts to climb back in the ring! | |||||||||||||||||||||

| "Let's face it the abortion debate is about morals, not cellular structures" ----------------------- Tristan, the quote above was from Gary. And I agree that abortion is, on average, an acceptable practice in the US today. At least in terms of it's current legal standing in America. (Although I'd add that most Americans, also on average, dislike the idea of abortion entirely. It's like holding a enraged and rabid wolf by it's ears...you just don't dare let go of it.) | |||||||||||||||||||||

| It may be my morale decision not to have an abortion (err, get my mate not to, considering I'm male), but it's not my morale decision on whether or not the choice should be left optional to women. It should be generally accepted in this society that people shouldn't impose their morals on others. Therefore the abortion debate should be about science and women's rights.
