What makes a human being greater than a tape worm?

And as far as Eastern Mysticism, I could say the same towards western Mysticism. This is why one MUST be allowed a choice. I would never force your family to get an abortion, and I'd highly discourage it of anyone, but I would also NEVER deny you the choice.

I fear too much of the pro-life argument is based on religion. If we use a rational basis the only logical answer is to allow the choice. They will face judgement for their choices throughout their life, and into the afterlife (if you believe in one). I see no reason to limit their options.

Do people go to war over tapeworms?

I think you know the answer to the question you asked!

And I'm not talking about RELIGION. I'm talking about the FACT that an unborn baby has NOT committed ANY crime. Period. Take away ALL religion. The baby is innocent of anything.

Abortion murders an innocent, unborn child. Period.

The unborn are BIOLOGICALLY human, yes. That is not the same as being human in the way that we normally say A PERSON.

A fingernail cutting is human also...

When you take away all religions, you still have the fact that the embryo or fetus is a drain on the mother's physical resources. She should be able to determine if she is willing to allow this to continue or not.

I cannot believe you are really this heartless!

You make childbearing sound like running a power generation plant!

We are talking about people, not kilowatts

Woman need to decide about "draining their physical resources" BEFORE they open their legs

I am nearly afraid to say it, for how new it seems to me...
but I believe that even as I did join this forum to learn, to grow, to either strengthen my already held beliefs or change...

I would say I have now become pro-choice.
The arguments set forth by Tadpole and the KnightofSaphho and the Baloney-Detector all have given me much to consider and when you see something, it is foolish to hang on to what has only before been comfortably familiar.

And now it is consistent with my emerging feminist views too.

Thank you all for what you have taken the time and thought to share.

Ah, it all comes back to the woman's fault.

You speak like Adam did to God in the garden of Eden. It is all HER fault! She made me do it!

Right there is some baloney. Where is that baloney detector when you need him?

Why?
The biological urge is no different for her than it is for the guy trying to get her to open her legs.

Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance.

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

Now now - no need to take the female moral high ground!!

You are right that both parties are responsible for conception, but whereas the man can duck his responsibility and "do a runner"***the woman cannot!

Therefore, it has to be the woman who makes the final decision about having sex if there are risks involved

I agree it maybe unfair but that's the way it is!
