The focus on gay marriage came about when sodomy laws were overturned. It was a natural barrier to gay people marrying. Without them, the legal picture was much cloudier and gay people have pounced on that.

You are correct. people need to take responsibility for their own families, including the size. this I agree with. but there are some who fall on hard times through no fault of their own. I would just rather see preachers talk about these things which Christ spoke about - charity and kindness - than to yammer on and on about abortion. which Christ never spoke about.

And I agree with you there too. But when does assistance turn into a bad thing. Assistance is supposed to be temporary unless you have a bonafide disability. It's not hard to see that abortion is killing. And murder IS in the bible.

oh most definitely it should be temporary. I get angry when I see families receive assistance when they have teenagers of working age in the family. but when there is a disability I beliee it is the kind thing to do to give a hand up. or if a person is a U.S. soldier who fought to put his life on the line. and then cannot get medical care. okay, this is off topic, lol, but it is a *pet peeve* of mine.

No. But that's not the point. I don't think being able to marry a fence post will "damage" anybody's marriage. Abortion doesn't effect how I feel or the importance of "my" son to me. But that doesn't mean I think any of those things are "right".

But Mr. Fx, do you not remember how not so very long ago, a marriage like yours or mine would be considered *not right*? I cannot imagine life without my husband were it to be illegal.
