I am anti-abortion because I feel this act is murder, life is not a mistake. Abortion and physician assisted suicide cheapen human life. Doctors are sworn to protect life, not end it... even a life. In the womb, the baby reacts to environmental stimuli and shares many of the physiological features that define human life. Furthermore, most mothers who had an abortion suffer a great deal of mental and/or physical anguish due to their "choice". Abortion is a "choice" that very few people can feel good about. Teach children to respect sex and the responsibility that accompanies it. It makes better sense to prevent teen and unplanned pregnancies by not taking part in actions that cause pregnancy.

Sperm is alive and contains human DNA. Should we ban masturbation too? Of course not, it is as silly as banning abortion.

Abortion, by the way, isn't going anywhere anyway. As shown below the supreme court has had 38 chances to reverse roe vs wade but the precedent remains the same; abortion is here to stay.

Sperm does not have everything necessary to become a human being; a fetus does. By the way, did you know that Roe v. Wade overturned precedent? Justice Blackmun who wrote the majority opinion, claimed that the 14th amendment prohibited states from restricting abortion. However, at the time the amendment was drafted and ratified (1866 and 1868 respectively), 36 states had laws restricting abortion, and all of them remained in force. That's what I call making a ruling to fit personal convictions.

Thanks for the link... and congratulations to tadpole on such a clear, concise, and informative post. However (this is where you start cussing me out ), what we're talking about here is whether it is unconstitutional for states to ban abortion. It is not. That is where Roe went wrong.

Do you have outside evidence for this claim? I know you've said it before.
According to a study published in the "Post-Abortion Review," 36% of those women who have had abortions among those who were surveyed described themselves as self-destructive after their abortion.

Fully 20% reported having a subsequent nervous breakdown, with 10% requiring hospitalization for psychiatric care. Sixty-one percent of women surveyed said the abortion made their lives worse and only 31% felt "reconciled" with their abortion.

Only 6% of the women surveyed said the abortion improved their lives.

Also a girl in my ethics class last year said that her friend felt sick for a long time after she got an abortion. She mentioned that the body goes through stages when your pregnant and when you suddenly end the stages of pregnancy by getting an abortion, it fucks everything up.

A good friend of mine got an abortion (on friday) and was back at work and living life as normal that Monday. Like everything else, different people will be effected differently.

Might also depend on which stage of pregnancy you get the abortion...I'm not entirely sure.

I am sure it does, if you get a late term abortion (which is pure evil) I am sure it has a much greater effect.

Yeah I knew pregnancy effected different women differently, so it stood to reason the abortion would as well.
