My wife & I used them with flawless results for nearly 20 years - so I'd say "Yes", the other kinds of contraception are VERY effective, if used properly.

There's actually only a fairly small "window" of time, during which a girl/woman can get pregnant each month. Even with NO birth control of any kind, sex will vary likely NOT result in pregnancy.

But it's best not to play Russian roulette when the results could be so profound!

Oh yeah, obviously!

I'm just saying that all this hype about how pregnancy is an INEVITABLE result of sex is not true. In addition to that fact, there are non-hormone-altering birth control methods that are very effective.

Much applause.

Theoretically, no they are not. But in combination (ie sponge and condom) the efficacy is almost as high as the pill.

Like Jefferson, I don't think that adding hormones to a system that is still maturing is a good idea. At the same time, it is a much better idea than not using reliable birth control.

These days, with all of the STD's that are out there, a condom is pretty much essential gear, IMO.

Well yeah, no glove no love.

HAHAHA

But why take chances when you can use both a condom AND birth control pills?

Because there are times when the risk of an item can potentially outweigh the benefits.

I don't believe in denying teens birth control pills, but I would prefer that they use other methods.

Barring other methods (as some people would be better about taking a pill than remembering to have protection with them), I prefer that a teen be on the Pill so that she does not become pregnant.

I see. Interesting point of view. So are most people on here agreed that the Pill shouldn't be the first option in the way of birth control for teenage girls?

I can't speak for most people...

Barring abstinence, combo BC's are better. Barring that, the pill is better.

I know you can't, but your opinion seems to be the common one on this topic.
